  • As of Oct. 1, 2018, HNFS is no longer scheduling/rescheduling VCP/PCCC appointments for veterans.
  • Providers and veterans can visit VA’s website, www.vets.gov/facilities, to locate the appropriate phone number to the veteran’s local or assigned VA Medical Center (VAMC) to coordinate care.

Authorizations

Providers must submit all authorization requests to the veteran's local or assigned VAMC.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are the Veterans Choice Program and Patient-Centered Community Care Programs ending?
A:
The VCP and PCCC program eligibility is not ending. The VA contract with HNFS as the third party administrator to assist VA in administering this eligibility has ended.

Q: Will my Choice Card remain valid after Sept. 30, 2018?
A: The contact information on the back of the Choice Card that provides HNFS contact information is no longer current. Veterans and providers will need to contact their local VAMC to determine eligibility. A VAMC locator can be found on www.vets.gov/facilities to assist in identifying a veteran’s local VAMC.

Q: How do I contact VA to get care after Sept. 30, 2018?
A: Veteran and providers can continue to call 1-866-606-8198 for assistance with VCP. This is a national phone number. As of Oct. 1, 2018, callers will hear a new message that directs them to select an option for specific issues. Once an option is selected, callers will be forwarded to a VA employee, rather than an HNFS associate.

Q: Do my providers need to submit my PCCC/VCP claims by Sept. 30, 2018, in order to be paid for services rendered?
A: Providers must submit all claims for HNFS-authorized services with dates of service Sept. 30, 2018 and earlier to HNFS by Dec. 31, 2019. Claims for services on or after Oct. 1, 2018, will be coordinated directly through VA.
