What Are Asthma Symptoms?

Symptoms can include:

  • Frequent coughing
  • Wheezing
  • Shortness of breath, especially with physical activity
  • Tightness in the chest

When asthma is well controlled, a person shows few symptoms. Asthma attack or flare are the terms used when symptoms get worse.

For more information about asthma symptoms and control, see Learn How to Control Asthma by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Our asthma DM program includes an action plan for you to complete with your doctor. Having an individualized plan of action makes it much easier to know what to do when symptoms occur.
